The Different Types of Glaucoma
To understand the early signs of glaucoma, you need to understand there are different types of the disease.
- Open-angle glaucoma is the most common form of the disease. It happens so slowly some patients lose vision before they’re aware of a problem.
- Angle-closure glaucoma occurs when the iris bulges, which may happen suddenly or gradually. This stops fluid from circulating through the eye, creating an increase in pressure.
- Normal-tension glaucoma happens when your optic nerve becomes damaged even though eye pressure is normal.
The Signs of Glaucoma You May Be Aware Of
Open-angle glaucoma may cause patchy blind spots in your vision early on. It is much different than angle-closure glaucoma, which may cause eye pain, blurred vision, debilitating headaches, nausea and vomiting, and more. This should be treated as a medical emergency, and you should seek medical attention immediately.
