One Day Lenses

One Day Contact Lenses At The Vision Place

If you are thinking about getting contacts, there are plenty of types to choose from. Today, one-day contact lenses, also known as dailies, have become more and more popular. It is important that you don’t confuse daily wear lenses with daily disposable lenses because the two are different. Daily wear lenses are contacts that need to be taken out at night and are not approved for overnight wear. Daily wear lenses would need to be thrown away every week, every two weeks, or every month, depending on the type of lens that you are wearing. Daily disposable lenses would be thrown away at the end of each day.

One Day Contacts Are Better For Your Eyes

The more frequently you replace your lenses, the better it is for your eyes. Over time, protein, lipids, and calcium can build up on your lens. As much as you try to clean them, you may not get it all. Since you would put a fresh pair in each day, daily contacts are more comfortable and less prone to infection.

Convenience

Daily lenses are easiest to use and the most convenient. If you keep the same pair of contacts for a week or more, you would need to soak and clean them every day. Since you would throw your lenses away at the end of the day, you wouldn’t need to worry about the hassle of cleaning them.

Who Can Wear One Day Contacts?

One day contacts come in a single vision. Since they also have one-day toric lenses, you can use them if you have astigmatism. These lenses also come in multifocal prescriptions which correct presbyopia. If you want to change the color of your eyes, one-day contacts come in colors. If you suffer from dry eye, your doctor might prescribe one-day contacts because they have high water content. This keeps the eyes from drying out and becoming irritated in the middle of the day.

How Much Do One Day Contacts Cost?

The average cost of one day contacts is between $20 and $30 for a box of 30. This would last you 15 days. Over the cost of a year, the cost of your lenses would be between $480 to $720. If you require a special lens such as a toric or a multifocal, or if you want colored lenses, they will cost more. Many companies offer discounts or rebates for patients who order a year supply at a time. If cost is an issue, you would be better off going with a bi-weekly or a monthly lens.
